Habitat for Humanity - Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Powhatan Fair - One of the longest running fairs in the state, conveniently located on Route 60, the fairgrounds play host to numerous events throughout the year to include the following: Lawn Mower races sponsored by the Virginia Lawn Mower Racing Association, Mahone’s Forge (an historical adventure for school children), and the annual County fair. Powhatan County Public Schools - The Powhatan County School System is dedicated to providing quality education through the use of our facilities, implementation of technology and our experienced educators.
There are six schools in the Powhatan County School District: three elementary schools, a middle school, a junior high school and a high school. Powhatan Rescue Squad - Powhatan Volunteer Rescue Squad is an organization that serves residents and visitors of Powhatan County with 24-hour emergency medical services, at both the basic and advanced life support level.
Womans Club of Powhatan - The club still supports many of the fine projects that were started when it was formed in 1972. The club manages the Clothes Closet which is staffed by club members and volunteers from the community. It provides clothing and household items to the needy in the community, for a very small cost. The Clothes Closet is located behind the Social Services building in the village of Powhatan and is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11 a.m - 2 p.m. We also accept donations during those hours.
Powhatan 4-H / Va Tech Extension Agents - Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Powhatan County improve their lives. We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Huguenot Volunteer Fire Department - The Huguenot Volunteer Fire Department, Incorporated has a proud history dating back to 1970. When a group of men in the Eastern portion of the county realized a need for more immediate fire protection for thier homes, they gathered for a meeting at the Holly Hills Baptist Church, and the Huguenot Volunteer Fire Department was formed. The Powhatan Lions Club - The Powhatan Lions Club is a great organization including some of the most well organized and caring citizens in the county. Every year we sponsor the steer roast, golf tournaments, and white cane days.
We provide eye exams for over 100 people that cannot afford it, conduct eye
exams in the Powhatan Schools and Blessed Sacrament for 1200 - 1500 students
each year among other things.
We meet at the County Seat on the 1st and 4th Wednesdays with meet and greet at 6:00, dinner at 6:30 and meeting at 7:00. Please call us for more information. 794-1440
The Rotary Club of Powhatan - Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. The Powhatan Rotary Club meets weekly at The County Seat on Thursday morning at 7:30 am. Everyone is welcome to join.
